Peachy is good-sized, extremely handsome dark orange
cat with a ring tail, and an exceptionally sweet disposition.
He is gentle and non animal aggressive. He is between 3 and 5
years of age. He was an un-neutered stray, so the Northwest Animal
Protection League had him neutered and given his shots this past
week. They also had him tested. To their surprise – he is
a good weight, eats well, and appears healthy – he tested
positive for both feline AIDS (FIV) and leukemia. Since the Northwest
Animal Protection League does not have a shelter, he is currently
housed in a large cage under a deck that is surrounded with lattice
work and covered with tarps on the inside. He has a heating pad,
and is presently comfortable, but cannot remain outside when cold
weather sets in. The volunteer who is caring for him adores him
and would love to keep him, but she has a 21 pound neutered male
cat that hates other males. Peachy is very unhappy in his cage.
He wants to be free, held, stroked and loved.
The Northwest Animal Protection League
(NWAPL) will pay for Peachy’s yearly shots and
medical care for the rest of his life. What Peachy needs is
a loving home.

Kitties with his dual problem need to be placed in a home where
there is another leukemia positive cat, a cat that has had leukemia
shots, or a home with no other cats. They can also be placed
in a home with a dog or dogs. Peachy’s diseases cannot
be spread to another species. We do not know if Peachy has ever
been with dogs, but since he is not animal aggressive, he would
probably adjust, in a short time, to a gentle dog.

Peachy could live as long as 5 or 6 years, as
a well-cared-for, vetted housecat. A stress-free existence will
prolong his life. Spreading FIV is only a problem if he has
sex or fights with another cat. Since he is neutered, he would
do just fine with another non-animal aggressive cat.
Please help Peachy. He has a right to live out
the rest of his natural life with love, and has a lot of love
to give. NWAPL will also supply food, if necessary. If you can
provide a permanent of foster home for him, please contact Mary
Grossman at marygrossman652@hotmail.com,
or call 401-826-7081. If you get voice mail,
please leave a message. Speak slowly and clearly. Your call
WILL be returned.
